Chris is an education specialist and literarian, interested in story-telling as a vehicle for identity. Trained in literature from Cegep (DEC in Literature at Dawson), through undergraduate and graduate degrees (Honours BA in English Literature & Liberal Arts; MA Literature at Concordia), Chris set out to be a literature teacher following an early inclination in high school.
His work has focused largely on how specific writers and works conceive of individual and social identities - how stories and story-telling reveal cultural and philosophical concerns about the place of the individual within society. Chris has worked with a broad spectrum of learners, having supervised multi-grade groups in summer school, facilitated high-school learners in an after-school program, taught adult-ed. ESL courses, led learning groups for undergraduate survey courses, and given several Cegep courses at both English and French Cegeps.
In the last few years, Chris has worked in theatre and for various organisations, with a focus on communications and online story-telling. While no longer teaching in a formal class-room setting, his love of teaching, and exploring the joys of literature with others, still drives him.
