SIAMSA CÉILÍ - MAY 27, 2023

The final céilí of the season, held at the NDG Legion, was a resounding success.

At the end of a day of glorious spring weather, it was perhaps unsurprising that many regulars stayed away.

However, those that came were enthusiastic, experienced dancers: this allowed Bill White to call several dances that were more challenging than usual. This was greatly appreciated by the crowd, the core of whom remained right until the end of the night of very vigorous dancing.

An unusual feature was that for some dances immediately after the intermission, Siamsa students from the spring session's ensemble class (Gemma Brookes, Denis Martin & Paul Cunningham) joined the band, gaining their first experience of playing for dancers at a céilí.

The Siamsa céili band (led by Steve Jones on accordion, with Martine Billette on piano, Fred Graham on drums, Alexandra Ferraud on fiddle, and Jean Duval, Guillaume Riou and Philippe Murphy on flutes) were in fine form. Richard Morgan was the sound engineer, doing a fabulous job as always.

Details of next season's dances will be published on our
