New to the fiddle? Want to start off and learn with no pre-conditions? Marie-Claire Saindon is excellent and waiting for your registration... need more convincing? There are plenty of good reasons to learn to play, no matter at what age you begin the process.

A classical violin student, Marie-Claire first showed an interest in composition while in high school, where she wrote and produced her first musical, Jeanne (Joan of Arc). Bitten by the creative bug, she began to participate in as many collaborative projects as possible, from choral pieces, to scoring short films and full documentaries, to accompanying modern dancers, to fiddling in a team of folk musician on a historical steam train.

Marie-Claire holds a BMus: Composition from the Schulich School of Music (McGill) in 2007 and a MMus: Composition - Film and Multimedia music from Université de Montréal in 2010.

In 2013, she won first place in the SOCAN Young Composers' National Awards in the Godfrey-Ridout vocal category with her choral work Øst for vinden (2012). She has since then been commissioned by many ensembles, including Concerto Della Donna, a women's vocal ensemble in which she also performed from 2009 to 2014. Her latest project is Carricks (2017), a documentary airing on Radio-Canada and in festivals concerning the Irish roots of the Québec population.
