Is your heart leaning toward the banjo or mandolin? Simon offers beginner lessons for good position and efficient movement in order to acquire the right reflexes for these instruments. For the intermediate player, he will build upon existing techniques to incorporate ornamentation and interpretation. He promises a cocktail of fun for everyone, a relaxed atmosphere with challenges spiked with hints and tips to learn new tunes and techniques quickly.
Simon developed his musical ear and passion while accompanying traditional music on guitar and percussion during folk dances in Northern France for almost 10 years. He discovered the Irish tenor banjo and Irish traditional music in 2010, and has participated in several workshops with masters such as Martin Howley, from whom he obtained the techniques and repertoire of modern Irish banjo players.
Simon came to Quebec in 2014, and he is currently studying traditional music at CEGEP Joliette.
